This is my Apple & Mac hardware page.  I kinda felt like putting my collection up here so that others might get an idea of where I'm coming from.  Not sure what purpose it serves, but what the heck, right? :)

They're listed in reverse-chronological order (newest stuff first).

iPod
30 GB iPod

This little wonder is the latest guy to enter the household.  :)

Behold the 30 GB iPod.  There've been a GREAT number of reviews about the iPod, and I have to say, it's as revolutionary as they claim it is.  Having ALL of my MP3s w/ me was a bit hard to do w/ the 5 GB model I got a year or so ago, but that's all they had.  The last device to impress me this much was my first Sony Walkman, circa 1984.

PowerBook G4
17" PowerBook G4 1 GHz (BigAl)

OMFG...... BigAl 0wnz!

This beast is a 1 GHz 17" PowerBook G4.  I got it through my job, and had them max out the RAM at 1 GB, so it's plenty beefy.  :)  This is, by far, the best computing experience I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of.  Resolution is great (1440x900), the keyboard is sublime (sounds silly, right?), and the speed.... quite nice.

*drool*

Old iPod
5 GB iPod

My First iPod.

It's sitting in a box, ready to be shipped off to it's new owner.... a friend of mine from the IRC channel I hang out in.  :)

Five Gigs of music is a TON of music..... but I had a complete OS and a copy of a 1 GB game on it, so I was feeling a bit cramped.  I still miss the *real* buttons and scroll wheel from it:  the new iPod's touch-sensitive controls are too sensitive for my taste:  I often find myself skipping to the next song when I'm slipping it into it's carrying case (which, btw, sux).

PowerBook G4
15" PowerBook 550 (TiBook)

Ahhh........... the TiBook :`)

My first modern-day Mac laptop.... what a wonderful piece of gear.  For a good long time, it was the most powerful piece of computer equipment in the house, and man..... I love it.  The wide-screen ratio it offered was an industry first, and everything about it screamed "quality".  Well, except for the paint.

Note to self:  don't try to paint titanium.

G4/500 (Sawtooth) -- Geek sold separately

Insert Big Cheesy Grin Here.

I love this picture:  it captures the joy of opening up your first store-bought Macintosh.  This G4/500 is still in my basement, happily chugging away as my home server-monster.

Okay... I'll admit it.... it's one of four server-monsters in my basement.

<--- Geek.

iMac DV SE 500 MHz

The George Foreman Grill.

Okay, it doesn't whisk away the grease from your foods, but it DOES inspire the entire world to follow in it's trend-setting translucent, multi-colored plastic covers.

This guy was actually supposed to be my better half's machine, but she found she really just didn't like how different Macs are from PCs, and ironically... she's now a competent PC user who got her modest start on my Mac Portable, two images below here.

This is actually the most-utilized "server" in my house.  It serves up wireless to three other machines, is a GREAT MAMP (Mac Apache MySQL PHP) platform, and is ROCK SOLID.  I run a phpbb2 forum and a website off of it, and it's incredibly solid.  Uptimes are generally in the six month range, stopping only to restart when power drop-outs cause the thing to fall into a slumber.  :)

Go Apple!

Mac LCIII
LCIII

Pizza Box, Rev Three.

I don't have a whole lot to say about this guy..... he was salvaged from certain cruelty from a source that'll go unnamed to protect the wicked.

I haven't used it much, and it sits quietly in my basement, keeping the basement floor from floating away.  The great news is, it's power consumption is so low as to .... ok.... it's a POS that I don't use.

There.  I said it.

Mac Portable
Mac Portable

The Luggable (*cough*).

This monster was Apple's first portable machine.  What you can't clearly see in this pic is the nearly 10 pounds of battery that sit behind that tiny monitor.

That being said, I LOVE this machine.  It was my FIRST Mac, and I bought it used off of a company-mate while at the Naval Academy.  I used it lovingly for another two years or so while I was there, and it happily spit out PC-compatible Word docs and such, but most importantly..... the reason I got it....

Think Pascal.

While my fellow Comp Sci classmates were trying to compile their code in Borland's Turbo Pascal, I was happily chugging away w/ breakpoints (*gasp!*), variable watches (say it isn't so!) and line-by-line step-throughs (scandalous!).

*bows down*  Thank you, Apple!  Thank you!  :`)
