One of the great things about TextMate is it’s all-inclusive nature. I downloaded a lot of the screencasts they posted on their site so that I could watch them at my leisure, and the one I watched today discussed how to blog from TextMate, complete with image uploading capability!
The reason I brought up all-inclusiveness is that there’s always a learning curve involved in using new software. In TextMate’s case, you can start using it right away and benefit a great deal from it’s automated functionality (like code formatting, line folding and bracket pairing), but the more time you spend learning about TextMate, the more super-user features you’ll start uncovering. The more you know, the more efficient you become, but if you’re learning multiple systems, the gains are very small.
The guys at Macromates (the developers of TextMate) have gone waaaay out of their way to make this app work in as many contexts as possible. It’s become my one-stop shop for text editing.
Awesome.
