I had a bit of a revelation today while I was skimming over my morning stream of rss articles in Google Reader:

Why don’t I use their star/tag capability to be my del.icio.us replacement?

My typical Google Reader workflow is:

  1. Navigate to the folder I want to browse (<shift>+n)
  2. Open said folder (<shift>+o)
  3. Navigate to the first unread story (n)
  4. Process the story by doing one of the following:
    • “Skim” it by pressing <enter> and reading the contents of the site’s rss feed
    • Mark it read based solely on it’s title (m)
    • Open it in a new tab to read the full story (v)

If I then decide that I want to del.icio.us the article, I go about doing it from the open tab.

With Google’s “star” and “tag” ability, I thought I’d be done w/ del.icio.us alltogether, but there’s ONE major piece missing:

the ability to EASILY view my tagged stories.

wtf?
