So check it out… every year at Thanksgiving (America’s holiday celebration of how we brutally subjugated the indigenous people of this continent), we eat a traditional turkey dinner.
Politicians like to pander to their constituents by getting on tv and offering a pardon to a turkey who’s presumably about to be killed. It’s generally well received and cute, and is hard to mess up.
Unless you have the perfect combination of a completely clueless slaughterhouse worker and a seemingly vengeful cameraman colluding to make some of the best footage you’ll see all year.

The timing could have been better — before the election would’ve been amazing, I think. Since it came out as a post script, it’s impact was …. well, it was still hilarious. I guess the timing didn’t matter much at all.
